MY STORY
My squiggly journey from business founder to product designer
My path into product design has been a squiggly one! Below are a few of the experiences that carved that squiggly journey out for me.

My path into product design began in the startup world, where I learned firsthand how crucial user experience is to business success.
As the first employee at Patch Plants in 2016, I worked directly with the founder to build the company's first physical and digital prototypes, eventually becoming Business Lead after growing through operations, merchandising, and sales roles.
This entrepreneurial foundation taught me how to actively listen to customers and design a solution that solves the real problem by following the design thinking process.

My entrepreneurial mindset continued to develop at Mix & Rise in 2020 when I co-founded an online plant-based baking product business that achieved 1,000+ UK sales, giving me deep insight into e-commerce user journeys and customer pain points.
I then joined the Antler VC accelerator where I met a co-founder and worked on Remi in 2022, an investment app specifically designed for women and non-binary people.
We pitched for £100,00 of angel investment and despite not being successful in our pitch, a passion for product design had been unleashed and I decided it was time to retrain.

I joined the UX/UI Design Course at Memorisely in 2022, which was a learn-by-designing program focused on real-world Figma applications and user-centered design principles.
After my course, I became a Product Designer at BrightLocal in 2023 where I have been the sole designer across two product squads in a B2B SaaS environment.
Responsible for end-to-end design process from user research to final implementation, I have absolutely loved my design role impacting product adoption and user satisfaction.
To further boost my knowledge and skills, I built on this foundation by undertaking their Design Systems Course at Memorisely in 2024 where I built a design system for the investment platform AJ Bell.

…but who is Fleur away from the screen?

Well, I have always been someone who loves to get out and explore the world around us when time allows, hunting down a new sauna, experience or corner of the world to discover.
And where would you be most likely to find me day to day when I'm not working? Probably chasing a football down a pitch playing for my South London ladies team Lush Lyfe FC, upside down on a yoga mat in a downward dog or busy dreaming up the next big business idea …or recipe to cook.
